Why should I use a staffing specialist?
A PRN Eye Associates representative can find the right practice opportunity for you in your desired location, saving you time and money.
Why is a relationship with PRN Eye Associates better than searching and posting on an Internet job board?
Rather than relying on automated technology to match you to a position, at PRN you will communicate directly with a staffing specialist who is familiar with your goals and needs. PRN Eye Associates also has many positions that are not posted on Internet job boards.
Do I have to pay a fee to take assignments through PRN Eye Associates?
No. PRN's Associate doctors never pay a fee. The Client pays PRN's fee.
If I accept an assignment through PRN, how does that affect my relationship with a doctor I may already work for?
Any established relationships with your own work contacts are unaffected by taking an assignment through PRN. You may continue to look for and accept work independently. However, if you accept a position that PRN makes you aware of, then that position must be filled through PRN.
How am I paid?
The daily rate depends on the facility and location and is negotiable. Some of PRN's Associate doctors request a higher daily rate, and some Clients are willing to pay more, particularly if there are unique circumstances, such as travel distance or lengthy assignments. Please contact a PRN Staffing Specialist for the current daily rate.
The daily rate paid by the Client is for the contracted amount of "chair time." PRN's Associate doctors are paid overtime at the rate of "time and a half" for each hour over the contracted hours. For instance, if the Client has a last-minute walk-in, and the staff requests you to stay late, you would be paid overtime. If you are working at a Client's office and fall behind schedule of your own accord, such as if you have a difficult case that takes longer than expected, this does not obligate the Client to pay you overtime.
The daily rate also pays you for examining up to fifteen (15) patients per day, including rechecks for other doctors. Rechecking patients for whom you were the original examining doctor does not count toward the fifteen patients. You will be paid a "bonus fee" for each patient over the fifteen patients you examine.
When will I be paid?
Once PRN receives payment from the Client, we immediately forward your payment to you. Clients have ten business days to pay PRN, so the longest it would take to pay you would be ten business days plus U.S. Postal Service delivery time.
Do I have to accept every assignment?
No. You are under no obligation to accept assignments. PRN will tell you the dates and hours of the assignment, who the Client is, where their office is located, and what type of paractice it is, so that you can make the decision to accept the assignment or not.
Do I have to travel?
No. You may choose to work in your local area, but many of our Associate doctors enjoy traveling to different locations. The willingness to travel presents more assignment opportunities.
If I do travel, are my expenses paid for?
Yes. PRN's Associate doctors may decide to work within a fifty (50) mile, each way, local radius, for which they are not compensated. But if you travel outside that zone, your are paid for each mile in excess of 100 miles that you drive. If you accept an extended travel assignment, the Client will pay your other expenses, such as airfare, hotels, etc. The Associate doctor never pays these expenses. Meals are generally the responsibility of the Associate.
I'm looking for work, but I don't want the office I'm currently working at to know. Is the information I give PRN confidential?
Yes. The information that PRN gathers about you is confidential and PRN will submit potential assignment information to you for your approval before sharing your information with a Client.
Does PRN control how I practice optometry?
No. PRN does not interfere with or control how you practice optometry. However, some PRN Clients may have specific requirements for how you practice at their office and PRN may occasionally relate this information to you when asked to do so by the Client.
How does Interim-to-Permanent Placement work?
Our convenient Interim-to-Permanent plan allows you to "test-drive" a practice prior to making a long-term commitment. If you and the Client are interested in making your relationship permanent, the Client has the option to pay a lump sum fee to PRN and take you on as a "direct hire" Associate.
